Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ReadTheGame

How We Create

Our match narratives blend verified match data with narrative techniques drawn from literary journalism. Using comprehensive match analysis, tactical breakdowns, and post-match interviews, we craft immersive narratives that capture the emotional truth of each game.

Where necessary, we employ artistic license to enhance storytelling—reconstructing dialogue, imagining player thoughts, and dramatizing key moments to bring you pitchside. Think of our matches as historical fiction for football: rigorously researched, creatively rendered.

Artistic License Disclaimer: Our narratives employ techniques from literary journalism and historical fiction. Dialogue, thoughts, and emotional states are dramatized based on match events, player actions, and available commentary. Matches are not verbatim transcripts but artistic interpretations designed to capture the drama and emotion of each game.

General Questions

What is ReadTheGame?

ReadTheGame transforms football matches into literary narratives. We take 90 minutes of football and craft it into a 25-minute immersive reading experience. Think of it as the match you missed, told as a story you won't forget.

How long does it take to read a match?

Each match is crafted to be consumed in approximately 25 minutes. Perfect for your commute, lunch break, or evening wind-down. We aim for ~7,500 words per match, including a matchday programme and detailed aftermath.

Are these AI-generated?

Our matches are editorially crafted narratives based on comprehensive match data, tactical analysis, and post-match commentary. We use AI as a tool in our creative process, but every match is carefully curated, edited, and refined to ensure quality and emotional authenticity.

How accurate are the matches?

All factual elements (goals, cards, substitutions, match events) are verified and accurate. However, we employ artistic license for dialogue, player thoughts, and emotional dramatization. Think of it like a sports documentary: "based on actual events," creatively rendered for narrative impact.
